Today, with the greater humility in the Holy Spirit, i would try to address the feast Sunday of today, the celebration of the Entry of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem.
Before His Crucifixion, Jesus Christ took 3 of Hid Disciples, Saint Peter, Saint John and his brother, Saint Jacob, to the Mount of Sinai, and during His Holy Transfiguration, He showed them His Divine Nature, in the presence of holy Prophet Moses, and holy Prophet Elijah. He did so to strengthen them in their spirits, right before His Afflictions and Crucifixion, knowing that they will be terribly disturbed by the events they will witness, including His death.
When Jesus Christ foretold His Apostles about His death, and what was about to suffer, Peter immediately tried to show his affectionate rejection for that, and told Jesus Christ should not go then to Jerusalem anymore, but Jesus Christ admonished him, saying he was not thinking like God’s will.
When was about time to go to Jerusalem, sent one of His Disciples before, to arrange the Cenacle of the Last Supper. Likewise, He sent another of His Apostles to find next to a tree, a wild ass, or a donkey, tied to the tree, and bring it to Him. Jesus Christ told him that if somebody would ask why is taking the donkey, to say that Lord needs it.
Then Jesus Christ entered Jerusalem, riding the donkey, to show humility, rather than riding a horse, expressing many times glory, if not even vainglory, contradicting His purpose, His mission, and His character, like He told His Apostles, while He was preaching…’Pay attention to Myself, that I am meek, humble and gentle in heart, and you will find peace to your souls…’
Also, riding the donkey is symbolizing subduing the stubborn nations, and the wild and pagan peoples of the world. When Jesus Christ entered Jerusalem, or enters, in real-time, like any Orthodox celebration, in the Holy Universal and Apostolic Church, He was greeted by the crowds, lying palm tree leafs on the ground, in His way, saying…’Osannah to Lord, Osannah to the Son of David!’
When the pharisees heard that, they asked Jesus Christ…’Cannot You hear what they say, why do You accept this?’, and Jesus Christ answered them…’Don’t you know what is written in the Psalms, that from the mouths of the babes and sucklings was perfected the praise of Lord, to silence and muzzle the pursuer?’
The next week, or the Holy Week, will be marked by the Spy Wednesday, when iscariot-the-goof went to the pharisees and soldi for 30 silvers, Jesus Christ, saying that will identify Himby a kiss on His cheek, for the soldiers to arrest Him, the Great Thursday, of the Last Supper, when Jesus Christ has sanctified the Divine Liturgy, for good and for ever, with leavened Bread, in the last day when the leavened bread was allowed, before the unleavened bread feast of the jewish, and the Holy Friday, of the Afflictions and Crucifixion of Jesus Christ, and His death on the Holy Cross, when He gave His soul to His Father, in Heaven!…
