Today, on the Fifth Sunday of the Great Lent, with greater humility in the Holy Spirit, i would address the holy Woman to whom is dedicated this Sunday, Santa Mary of Egypt.
Santa Mary of Egypt was a very easy and lustful woman, dedicating her life to wanton pleasures without restrain. She never intended to straighten up, and even if she heard about Jesus Christ, Whom He was, and of His Mother, Holy Virgin Mary, her pervert habitual behaviour was in any way touched to change her life.
But at some point, through divine inspiration, wanted to visit Jerusalem, and embarked on a ship to Israel, paying the trip to the destination, like she knew better, with her body. She arrived in Jerusalem, and wanted to visit the most prominent sites where Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Word of God, incarnated, with a human soul, spent His life.
She went first to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and wanted to walk in, together with other visitors. But even if the other pilgrims were going in, and coming out of the Church, an invisible force of a holy Angel was preventing her from entering the Church.
Maybe through her wagering skittish trog way of stubborn unrepented easy woman, made several other attempts to go inside the Church, from different sides, but every time the same holy Angel of God was denying her the access.
When she understood what was going, she retreated in tears from the way of the other pilgrims, and seeping into tears, made a vow to Holy Virgin Mary that, if she would be allowed to go into the Church, would completely repent and change her life before.
Then, when she tried again to enter the Church, the invisible holy Angel didn’t block her entrance anymore. After she walked out of the Church, Santa Mary of Egypt went straight into the wilderness of Egypt, and started a most excruciating way of life of depriving herself of everything, and she renounced even the basic daily food.
For years, Santa Mary of Egypt had as ‘diet’ leafs and the bark of the trees, was praying intensively for hours and hours a day, weeping with fervour, for forgiveness. It was in her no sign of kvetch or look back, like Jesus Christ said, whoever starts to plough and work for God, but looks back, is not worthy for the Kingdom of Heaven, and she was so determined, that never balked at the other circumstances or people in her life, always blaming herself, and increasing in remorse to levels, which were dazzling even the holy Angels, matching the hardness of life in wilderness of Saint John the Baptist, the holy Prophet and Forerunner.
During prayers, her mind was so abducted into the sight of God, and the Kingdom of Heaven, that Santa Mary of Egypt was levitating above ground. As well, Santa Mar has become able to walk on the water, over the Nile river, like was witnessed by Zosimas, a Priest who was inspired by the holy Angel to visit Santa Mary in the wilderness, and bring to her the Holy Communion.
Zosimas was appalled by the physical feebleness of Santa Mary, as she has turned into skin and bones, like she is represented in the Icons depicting her. Santa Mary of Egypt has become, thus, a role model of swish brilliant and unparalleled remorse, which can turn virtually even the most impervious to the Orthodox holies sinner, like myself, to reach through the Divine Grace, the heights of the spiritual sight of the Kingdom of Heaven, like it was the case of Saint First Martyr and Archdeacon Stephen, and then, like he confessed himself, that one who was guarding the clothes of Saint Stephen when he was stoned to death, Saint Apostle Paul the Astonishing, who admitted that he was not sure if it happened while he was in the body, or outside his body, that he heard those sounds of the Choir of the Celestial Minds and Bodiless Powers of Heaven: ‘Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord of Sabbaoth!!’
It takes only a free will to repent, and give up on the erratic unorthodox and lustful way of life, and dedicate the life, as hard as is possible in our times when the idolatry, the hindu media devil worshipping, and all the mutations, deviations and incarnations of demons are blanketing the Earth, trying to sever our mind and sight from the mere fact that Holy Trinity is the Creator of the Earth, and of the whole Universe, to unprecedented levels of brainwash, preparing the ground for the last antichrist, which reign-in at the end of time, is probably ongoing…
The next Sunday of the Great Lent, the Sixth and last Sunday of the Great Lent, the Palm Sunday, will be dedicated to the Entry in Jerusalem of Jesus Christ, the Son of God…
